The Day I Got the Blues Mixed Media Cibachrome print, Acrylics, Beeswax Marisol Apostol, 2013 |
Back in 1998-99, I did a heart wrenching photo study. One that I keep looking at constantly. The work was my way to process my only sibling's death in 1996. Working with Betti, my life long model, I searched within to collaborate on a powerful and poignant emotional journey.
This past weekend, I got one photo out to give it some light after 14 years. I decided to mix it with other media and to use some color... yes, I love color and you know it. So this is what came out of it. I called it The Day I Got the Blues. It will be on display at the Mujer de Ayer, Hoy y Siempre exhibit which opens this Saturday at the Centro Cultural de la Raza in Balboa Park.
